Online Continuing Medical Education Continues to Gain Share: What is Your Online Growth Strategy?

A new study, titled " The Growth, Characteristics, and Future of Online CME ," was published in the Winter 2010 Issue of the Journal of Continuing Education in the Health Professions. According to the study authors, based on current trends in the use of online education continue, approximately half of all continuing medical education consumed by physicians could be delivered via online means within seven to 10 years! This is especially significant when only 7 percent to 9 percent of CME was delivered online in 2008.

This is not a new statistic or even a surprise but it may be surprising if you knew how many people are not prepared for this shift. More surprising is the fact that those developing online content continue to struggle to generate an online audience for their activities despite the growth of online physician and healthcare professional learning.

How are you developing, distributing, and marketing to generate an online audience for your continuing medical education activities? How will your organization deal with this increasingly important paradigm shift? Join an expert at generating live, online and mobile audiences for continuing medical education providers to learn:

  • Why you need to take action now to get your medical education programs properly search engine optimized, marketed and distributed online;
  • How to integrate social media strategies and tactics to enhance online participation and completions;
  • What you can do to take advantage of the online growth trend and specifically how the new iPad and mobile marketplace will take on an increasingly important role and why it matters in relation to your online presence; and
  • What solutions are available to better deliver, manage, and measure online CME.
